PDS revised 03/06/2023
U1P-GEAR SAE 75W-140 Full Synthetic Gear Oil, API GL-5 is formulated with synthetic base oils and specialty performance additives to provide improved high-temperature thermal and oxidative stability in a wide range of operating conditions. Specialty anti-scuffing additives and friction modifiers provide advanced protection and lubricity in extreme pressure conditions. Additionally, U1P-GEAR SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Limited Slip Gear Oil, API GL-5, MT-1 is highly shear stable while also resisting rust, oxidation, foaming, and varnish. U1P-GEAR SAE 75W-140 Synthetic Gear Oil, API GL-5 is designed for use in all seasons and exceeds the year-round, all-weather performance viscosity requirements of SAE J306 as well as the rigorous performance requirements of API GL-5 and MT-1. API Category GL- 5 designates the type of service characteristic of gears, particularly hypoids in automotive axles under high-speed and/or low-speed, high-torque conditions. Lubricants meeting API MT-1 provide protection against the combination of thermal degradation, component wear, and oil seal deterioration which is not provided by lubricants meeting only the requirements of API GL-5..
Documented benefits
- Strong and stable lubrication film for minimum wear
- Extended gear and bearing life due to minimal deposits
- Exceptional thermal stability and resistance to high-temperature oxidation
- Reduced maintenance costs by extending the life of seals and other components
- Increased load-carrying capability

A gear-oil request should identify the component, operating conditions, viscosity grade and required performance level. GL-4 and GL-5 are not automatic substitutes, and industrial ISO grades should be matched to the gearbox manufacturer's recommendation.
